Anmat Bans Products from an Unlicensed Dermatological Brand and Stolen Units of Diabetes Supplies

The National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices (Anmat) issued two nationwide bans through provisions published in the Official Gazette. One covers dermatological products identified with the brands Caflab or Caflab Applied Science. The other covers specific units of reservoirs, infusion sets, and sensors for diabetes that had been stolen in Rosario. What the provisions say about Caflab products

Provision 5970/2026 prohibits the use, marketing, and distribution throughout the country of any medication or medical product identified with the brands Caflab or Caflab Applied Science, or that claims to have been manufactured by the latter firm, whose indication for use is in human medicine. The measure remains in effect until the products obtain the corresponding health authorization.

According to the journalistic account, the investigation began with a complaint from a buyer who purchased through Mercado Libre a product identified as 30% trichloroacetic acid, presented in a 10-milliliter bottle. The packaging promoted it for the removal of warts and the treatment of condylomas and keratoses, among other dermatological uses.

During the inspection, the agency reportedly found that the firm’s website offered other products, such as Gram stain, Lugol’s iodine, safranin, methylene blue, and physiological saline solution. Upon analyzing the advertised therapeutic indications, along with the composition and presentation, Anmat considered that they should be classified as medications.

The inquiries made by the agency determined that Laboratorio Caflab was not registered in the categories of medications, medical products, in vitro diagnostic products, or cosmetics. The investigated products also lacked registration with Anmat. Meanwhile, the Directorate of Pharmacy of the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires reported that it had no licensed pharmaceutical establishment under the name Laboratorio Caflab Applied Science, nor any authorization or pending authorization for an establishment at the address declared on the packaging, in Luis Guillón, Esteban Echeverría district.

Anmat warned that the manufacturing conditions and the actual composition of the products were unknown, so their efficacy and safety could not be guaranteed. It also noted that they were manufactured and dispensed outside licensed establishments, posing a health risk to potential patients. In addition to the ban, the agency’s Directorate of Legal Affairs filed a criminal complaint for the alleged commission of a crime against public health.

The second ban: stolen supplies for insulin pumps

Through provision 5979/2026, Anmat prohibited the use, marketing, and distribution of specific units of Paradigm reservoirs, MiniMed subcutaneous infusion sets, and Guardian 4 sensors, registered under the name of Medtronic Latin America Inc. The measure originated from a complaint by the firm Implantes Quirúrgicos S.A., licensed as an importer of medical products, regarding a robbery that occurred on July 29, 2026, in Rosario.

According to the account included in the case file, the complainant had parked her vehicle on Colectivo Arcoíris Street, between French and Carballo, and upon returning she found damage to one of the windows and the theft of the products. The reservoirs and infusion sets are indicated for administering insulin subcutaneously via a pump, while the sensors are used for continuous monitoring of glucose levels in people with diabetes. The products are registered with Anmat and classified as risk class III.

The agency explained that the current state and condition of the stolen units are unknown, which prevents their inspection in accordance with regulations. For this reason, it ordered the ban throughout the national territory to protect potential buyers and users.
