Happy ending for a search that kept all of Belgrano on edge. The 15-year-old teenager who had disappeared Friday night was found safe and sound this Saturday at noon in a hypermarket in Villa Lugano. But watch out: she wasn’t alone. The girl was with her boyfriend, and everything indicates she ran away voluntarily.
According to police sources, the girl, identified as J.F., was located by the Division of Crimes against Children and Adolescents of the City Police in a supermarket located at Avenida Cruz and Escalada. Officers immediately transferred her to the police station, where her desperate parents were waiting.
How did they find her? Simple: they tracked the ride-hailing app the girl used to go from her home in Belgrano to her boyfriend’s house. That’s where they located her. The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No. 4, headed by prosecutor Carlos Alberto Vasser, confirmed that the minor «was located safe and sound» and that, according to initial findings, «she would not have been a victim of any crime.» In other words, she left on her own.
The young woman had been intensely searched for since Friday night. A security camera had captured her at Cuba and Sucre at 7 p.m., when she was returning from a friend’s house. The family last contacted her at 8 p.m., just as Argentina was playing against Cape Verde in the World Cup. All via WhatsApp. But then, total silence. Her last connection was at 8:06 p.m.
The desperate parents filed a report at the Neighborhood Police Station 13C. The case started as «location inquiry» and the investigation was taken over by the Division of Investigation of Crimes against Children and Adolescents. The Prosecutor’s Office pushed all search measures, which culminated in the discovery in Lugano.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office asked the media and the public to stop disseminating the search notice and to preserve the girl’s privacy. A key detail: the police remind that you don’t have to wait 24 or 48 hours to file a report. The first hours are crucial, even though many cases end up being voluntary runaways.
