Argentina sufre pero avanza a semis: el 3-1 a Suiza que desató la locura en las redes

Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina faced Switzerland for a place in the World Cup semifinals, where England was already waiting. After the suffering in previous matches against Cape Verde and Egypt, memes once again focused on that agony, but goals from Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez ultimately fueled Argentine joy.

With Switzerland’s equalizer and Embolo’s red card, memes once again centered on the anguish fans experience during World Cup matches. However, after the 3-1 final in extra time, the new qualification for a World Cup semifinal finally dispelled all the bad moments and sparked a massive celebration.

Social media exploded with all kinds of reactions. From uncertainty over Scaloni’s changes to relief from goals by Alexis Mac Allister and company. Memes spared no one: not Cuti Romero, not Nico González, not Cami Mayan, who became a trending topic for her reaction to Mac Allister’s goal.

“Che Argentina is playing better, just like Scaloni trained them these days,” said a viral tweet. Another user compared Julián Álvarez to a hero: “Julián Álvarez when the chips are down and everyone is watching him.” Embolo’s red card also sparked debate: “How is that a red card? Another robbery in favor of Argenfifa,” wrote one user, while another showed a picture of the Swiss striker with a sour face.

Scaloni was also the target of criticism and memes for his changes. “Barco, Nico Paz and Simeone watching Scaloni always make the same shitty changes,” said one. Another joked: “Let’s trust Scaloni’s changes, he knows what he’s doing. That son of a bitch Nico González every time he gets the ball.”

But there was also room for humor and gratitude. “120 MINUTES PLAYING, HE RECOVERS AND MAKES THE PASS, THANK YOU JULIAN, THANK YOU FOR BEING ARGENTINE,” shouted a fan. And another dared to ask: “Hello God, it’s me again. Please, another goal for Argentina. Tkm.”

The match left memorable images, such as Cami Mayan celebrating Mac Allister’s goal, which generated a wave of memes and comments. “Cami Mayan after shouting Alexis’s goal,” said a tweet, while another assured: “MAC ALLISTER I NEVER SPOKE ILL OF YOU CAMI MAYAN YOU WERE ALWAYS A RESURRECTED LOUSE.”

Now Argentina awaits England in the semifinals. Fans are already preparing for another heart-stopping match, but for now, the victory over Switzerland is being celebrated in style.
