WE’VE GOT IT CLEAR. While we Argentines prepare to see Scaloneta dominate the World Cup, the Belgians are crying because they say they’re being disrespected. But hold on a second!
Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian national team goalkeeper, spoke after his team thrashed the United States and qualified for the quarterfinals. And instead of celebrating, he came out with a victim speech: ‘We received a lot of disrespect,’ he said, and even added: ‘I understand they want to give it publicity.’ Publicity? They’re just a bunch of bitter losers who have never won anything!
This is crazy. The guy complains that the press doesn’t respect them, but then they go out on the field and play as if nothing happened. Or maybe they’re nervous because Argentina is coming? Because we know what respect means: Scaloneta earns respect with guts and football, not with whining.
In the match against the United States, Belgium was superior, I’m not denying that. But from there to playing the victim… you don’t say! If you want respect, you have to handle the pressure, like we always do with the national team. There are no excuses here: you play and win, or you lose but with dignity.
The worst part is that Courtois is a great player, but with those statements he seems like a baby. In Argentina, goalkeepers are made of different stuff: like Dibu Martínez, who saves penalties and doesn’t complain about anything. That’s what a star is!
Well, enough talking about the Belgians. The important thing is that a great match is coming and Scaloneta is more alive than ever. Let’s go Argentina, these crybabies won’t stop us. On to the World Cup!
