Invasión albiceleste: caos y confianza total en la previa de la final del Mundial 2026

The Argentine national team is experiencing the buildup to the 2026 World Cup final with a confidence bordering on arrogance. Lionel Scaloni’s squad, which has won all four title deciders it has contested, not only accumulates victories: every time they put on the sky-blue and white jersey, they left their soul on the pitch until the last breath. Whatever the result, the tranquility is total. But what happens off the field is pure madness.

Thousands of compatriots, many without tickets, have already invaded New Jersey. The MetLife Stadium, with a capacity of 82,500 souls, will host nearly 50,000 Argentines. And watch out, the neutrals are also leaning towards the Scaloneta, seduced by Messi. The city has been dyed sky-blue and white: flag-waving under the rain, bass drums, trumpets, choripanes and hamburgers as in any Argentine stadium. The songs, old and new, come out by heart. Emotion is palpable and the hope for the fourth star has turned New Jersey into a branch of Buenos Aires. But not everything is joy: the entry points are total chaos, both for the press and for the fans.

Tactically, Scaloni is considering changes. Gonzalo Montiel could replace Nahuel Molina at right back, after the former Boca player’s poor performance against England. In midfield, Rodrigo De Paul looms over Giuliano Simeone on the right, while Nicolás González fights for a spot. If the former Argentinos Juniors player comes in, he would do so on the left, moving Enzo Fernández or Alexis Mac Allister to the other side. The starting eleven, in a 4-4-2, would be: Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez; Nahuel Molina or Montiel, Cristian ‘Cuti’ Romero, Lisandro Martínez, Nicolás Tagliafico; Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone or Nicolás González, Leandro Paredes, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister; Lionel Messi and Julián Álvarez.

The final will be on Sunday, July 19 at 4:00 PM Argentine time, in New Jersey. Live broadcast will be handled by TyC Sports, Telefe, TV Pública and DSports. Streaming will be available on TyC Sports Play, MiTelefe, DGO, TV Pública en vivo on YouTube, Disney+ and Paramount+. The albiceleste tide promises to make history, inside and outside the pitch.
