Long live football, man! If you thought all goals had been seen, a Colombian with a Mexican passport appears and blows your mind. We’re talking about Julio Quiñones, the Tri striker who last night pulled off a play from another planet from his own half and slotted it into Ecuador’s net. Don’t tell me, it’s madness!
The play is one for the history books: Quiñones picked up the ball in midfield, looked up, saw the goalkeeper off his line, and chipped it with surgical precision. The ball kissed the crossbar and went in like a caress. The stadium exploded, Mexican fans went crazy, and we Argentines can only stand and applaud. Because that’s football: it makes you vibrate regardless of the jersey.
But it didn’t end there. In the second half, Quiñones turned magician and served a goal on a silver platter to Raúl Jiménez for the final 2-0. The Colombian now has three goals in this World Cup and is the tournament’s top local scorer. Three goals so far in the World Cup! This is monstrous.
Mexico is coming, eh. With a player like that, anyone can dream of the round of 16. And we Argentines know well what it’s like to have a striker who can decide matches. So watch out: the Scaloneta will have to be careful if they cross paths with this team. Because Quiñones is on fire and doesn’t stop scoring.
This is madness, guys. Go Argentina, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy this wonder goal that’s already going around the world. Don’t tell me!
