We lost an emblem of world football! Kevin Keegan, the legendary Liverpool striker and two-time Ballon d’Or winner, died at age 75 after a long battle with illness. The news hit us all hard, like a bucket of cold water.
Keegan was one of those players who defined an era. An idol in England, but here in Argentina we remember him well for that 1978 World Cup final. Yes, the same one who was sent off in that match that gave us our first star. What a gesture, huh. But beyond that, he was a phenomenon: a dribbler, a scorer, one of those who make the stands vibrate.
The Scaloneta of those years suffered because of him, but today we pay tribute. Because football is passion, and Keegan was pure passion. Liverpool mourns him, English football mourns him, and we Argentines also remember him. He was part of a golden era, and although he made us angry, he will always be part of the great history of the sport.
From here, a huge hug to his family and all Liverpool fans. We lost a great one. I can’t believe it, this is crazy! Go Argentina, always remembering those who made this sport great.
