The success against the Ghanaians and the qualification went beyond Colombian media. Multiple foreign outlets showcased the very high level the South American team has been showing, undefeated in the World Cup. L’Équipe, from France, headlined on its front page «Colombia Defeats Ghana and Completes the List of Teams Qualified for the Round of 16 of the World Cup,» and stated that the winner dominated the rival throughout the match, which failed to register a single shot on goal.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta Dello Sport, from Italy, spoke of the tricolor supremacy over the ninety minutes in the center of the United States and highlighted the saves of the opposing goalkeeper, Lawrence Ati Zigi. «Colombia-Ghana, the Ratings: Arias Gets a 7, How Timely!» And the portal noted that «Zigi’s saves prevent a much heavier defeat.»

In turn, Sky Sports praised the game of the winning team and focused on the early substitutions due to injuries of Colombian Jhon Córdoba and Ghanaian Marvin Senaya. «No World Cup match had ever seen both teams make substitutions before the 15th minute,» it observed.
