Bullrich cruzó a Villarruel y Karina avanza en CABA: la interna explota

The internal feud within the ruling party is raging. While in the Senate Patricia Bullrich announced that the discussion of the Inviolability of Private Property bill was falling through (again), at the Casa Rosada Karina Milei received libertarian and bullrichista legislators from the City of Buenos Aires. In a week marked by the political meetings of the presidential siblings, the Secretary General listened to the Buenos Aires initiatives and they discussed the need to generate their own candidates.

Amid an open flirtation with the PRO in the capital and without a strong name that could aspire to take the City —Manuel Adorni fell from grace ejected from the government while Bullrich is not interested and wages a silent battle with Karina—, the libertarians did not talk about candidates or profiles, but they did talk about the intention to put one on the table without that meaning, at least for now, breaking bridges with the yellows who are already promoting Jorge Macri’s reelection.

The Secretary General of the Presidency met with the head of the violet bloc in the Legislature and president of the party in CABA, Pilar Ramírez, the rest of the council members, technical teams, and the new Press Secretary, Fabián Fernández. During the meeting, the Buenos Aires deputies expressed the main concerns of the district, such as waste accumulation, circulation problems due to railway barriers, and the lack of development in the south of the City of Buenos Aires. On that basis, they presented the projects they will promote in the local parliament and the progress in developing the government platform with a view to the 2027 elections.

According to one of those present, they talked about having their own candidate, although names or profile characteristics for competing for the head of government have not yet been defined. Nor was the strategy to follow addressed, nor was there discussion about Bullrich, who was once one of the strongest cards to dispute CABA but has been deflating over time, although she should not be completely ruled out. On Tuesday she participated together with Pilar Ramírez in a meeting with women in solidarity in the City.

Bullrich was one of the protagonists of the day. After the failure of the treatment of the Inviolability of Private Property bill, the senator crossed Victoria Villarruel without naming her: «Millions of Argentines voted for us to transform Argentina. Whoever came with this project and is not willing to defend it should step aside.» The vice president had publicly expressed her disagreement with the initiative and had asked to suspend the session.

The hours before the debate in the chamber were marked by the leak of a series of chats between the two, where the senator also suggested she resign. Now she did it openly. On social media and in response to a user, Villarruel denied having spread the conversation: «I do not leak private conversations. Even less do I put them in chat groups or call journalists to do articles. Those are usual methods of the caste.» The truth is that Bullrich was not the only one who suggested she step aside. The twisted framing maker, Santiago Oría, recommended that «if you disagree so much with your own government, RESIGN, you have no dignity and that’s why no one respects you beyond the position.»

As was known, the scenario had become complicated in the Senate. «The votes were there but Federico (Sturzenegger) was not very convinced,» said an important parliamentary source. But the lack of agreement from the Minister of Deregulation was never a limitation for Bullrich. Therefore, in this case, the absence of legislators for a more «comfortable» vote also influenced.

The bullrichismo understands that: «Once the bill enters the Senate, the decision is ours.» So they do not hesitate to advance with changes without prior approval from the Casa Rosada, shaping the letter of the laws according to the negotiations of the Upper House to ensure approval, as happened with the labor reform or the Glaciers Law. The strategy is clear: pass the best possible law and let Sturzenegger become convinced with the approved text. In this case, they assure they had the votes but «some senators were missing» and they preferred to postpone the discussion to August 6 «to pass it with a more comfortable majority.»
