Patricia Bullrich held nothing back. In an interview with José Del Rio on LN+, the national senator and head of the libertarian bloc in the Senate celebrated the departure of Manuel Adorni as Chief of Staff and the arrival of Diego Santilli in the position. ‘It creates a new moment and breath for the Government,’ she stated emphatically.
According to Bullrich, the departure of the former presidential spokesperson allows ‘returning to the people’s agenda’ and leaving behind ‘the one that was segmented in his figure.’ The former Security Minister assured that the ruling party’s project ‘needs reelection to establish its roots’ and that this change ‘will allow us to work much better and more focused.’
The senator revealed that she maintains constant dialogue with Karina Milei and that it was she who raised the need for a change. ‘We had a clear situation last week in Parliament, where it was evident that the situation could not continue because we could have a domino effect,’ she explained. And she added: ‘We had to solve this blockage somehow. I expressed it to Karina and she showed great understanding.’
Bullrich warned that it would have been ‘difficult’ to continue with key projects of the ruling party — such as labor reform or the tax amnesty law — without the change in the Chief of Staff. ‘That stone kept appearing,’ she said in reference to Adorni.
Asked about the threats Adorni suffered, mentioned by President Javier Milei, Bullrich noted: ‘I was aware of threats he received; I imagine that recently he must have had very difficult situations. Those things are tough and they happen.’
The senator also referred to the possibility that Adorni faced a censure motion in Congress. ‘Institutionally, using the censure motion was very strong. There were several attempts in different governments and it had never happened. That’s why we thought it was a point that would be negative internationally and we tried to avoid it. It would have gone around the world,’ she argued.
Bullrich clarified that her stance is not a personal attack on Adorni. ‘It’s not a personal issue with Adorni; I did the same with Espert. It’s about the project that is changing the lives of Argentines,’ she stated.
Regarding Milei’s statements that liberals ‘are not a herd,’ Bullrich agreed: ‘It’s what he always said, that he comes to awaken lions. Now he repeats it. A government has an order and acceptance of the President’s place, but saying things, within the framework of valuing the project, is a signal so that it is not a country of employees.’
The senator also targeted PRO leader Mauricio Macri, who had anticipated his vote in favor of interpellating Adorni. ‘It ends up framing us all in this noise, which does not allow us to value the economic advances that have occurred,’ she criticized. And she recalled: ‘Macri knows what a crisis is, and in those that occurred in the government he presided over, at no time was the Chief of Staff put in a limit situation.’
Finally, Bullrich analyzed the resignation of her cousin Esteban Bullrich from the PRO. ‘His situation was confusing and there were PRO actors who had different actions, but it seemed to me that it was not enough for him to leave. If he wanted to fight it, he could have,’ she concluded.
