Milei confirma a Diego Santilli como Jefe de Gabinete: jura el martes a las 16

President Javier Milei confirmed this Sunday the appointment of Diego Santilli as the new Chief of Cabinet of Ministers, following the departure of Manuel Adorni. The current Interior Minister will be sworn in on Tuesday at 4:00 PM, as reported by the president himself through his social media.

“Here with the new Chief of Cabinet of Ministers @diegosantilli and the Secretary General of the Presidency @KarinaMileiOk outlining the foundations for an orderly transition of the position. The swearing-in will be on Tuesday at 4:00 PM,” Milei wrote on his X account, alongside a photo of the three at the Olivos residence.

Santilli had arrived at Olivos after 7:15 PM, where he was received by the President and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, to move forward with formalizing his new duties within the national government.

His arrival at the Chief of Cabinet comes after his tenure at the Ministry of the Interior, an area from which he managed political ties with governors and coordination with various legislative sectors.

“Colo” had strengthened his approach to the ruling party during the alliance between the PRO and La Libertad Avanza for the 2025 national legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires. In that campaign, Santilli ended up heading the list after the resignation of José Luis Espert, conducting a historic campaign that defeated Kirchnerism in the province of Buenos Aires.

With the ruling party’s victory in Buenos Aires territory, one of the most complex districts for any non-Peronist government, Milei confirmed Santilli as Interior Minister, with the aim of strengthening dialogue with provincial governors and organizing the Executive’s political relationship with Congress.

Santilli has extensive experience in public service. He was a Buenos Aires City legislator, Minister of Environment and Public Space of the City of Buenos Aires, national senator, Deputy Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, and Minister of Justice and Security during the administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta. In 2021, he was elected national deputy for the province of Buenos Aires.

A public accountant from the University of Buenos Aires, he also completed training abroad related to public administration, marketing, and futures markets. His profile combines executive experience, legislative background, and territorial knowledge, three attributes that will be central for a Chief of Cabinet that must coordinate daily management and sustain the government’s reform agenda.

The appointment of Santilli marks a new stage within the national Cabinet, with a long-time political figure who had already been working on building consensus to support the reform program promoted by Javier Milei.
