The first half of the year was a true political battlefield. While President Javier Milei saw his positive image melt away, the left, led by Myriam Bregman, grew like foam, and Peronism got tangled in a fierce internal fight between Cristina Kirchner and Axel Kicillof. The numbers don’t lie: of the 19 polling firms surveyed, all close the semester with a negative balance for the libertarian administration.
Milei started January with 45% positive image, but by June it had fallen to 38.6%. A loss of more than 6 points that leaves him staggering. In parallel, Bregman built an unstoppable rise: in May she climbed to first place with an average of 40.7%, surpassing Milei himself, Kicillof, and Cristina. It is the first time in decades that a left-wing leader tops a national image ranking. Although in June she moderated to 37.2%, her trajectory consolidates her as the only figure with net growth throughout the semester.
The explanation? While Milei got tangled in scandals like the Libra case and Adorni’s corruption, and Peronism failed to define a clear direction, Bregman stood firm as the consistent opposition. In a semester marked by a general strike, mobilizations of retirees and university students, and fierce social rejection of austerity, the left capitalized on that discontent without ambiguity.
Patricia Bullrich, for her part, remained stable between 39% and 41%, taking advantage of some differentiation from Milei after the Adorni scandal. Kicillof grew slowly to 39% in June, while Cristina Kirchner recovered from her February low to 35.4%. But the Peronist internal fight left both stagnant: neither Cristina managed to regain centrality nor did Kicillof build a solid identity of his own. The ceiling of the space does not move.
In voting intention, Milei maintains first place but worn down: 33.6% in June versus 34.7% in March. Kicillof stabilizes at 29-30 points. And Bregman doubled her share: from 4.6% in February to an average of 9.9% in May, with peaks of 14.6% in some polling firms.
The most striking fact: the evaluation of Milei’s administration is negative in all 19 polling firms. The balances range from -3 points (Isasi Burdman) to -31 points (Delfos), with an average disapproval above 57%. In firms like Delfos (65% disapproval), Udesa (62%), OPSA UBA (62.8%), and Hugo Haime (61%), rejection exceeds two-thirds of the electorate. That broad and unanimous floor is the basis on which the political board was recomposed.
The semester leaves an explosive panorama: a worn-down Milei, a rising left, and a Peronism that fails to capitalize on discontent. The question is who will strike the next blow in this hot ring.
