Diego Latorre Goes All Out Against Messi Controversy in the National Team

The former footballer held nothing back and analyzed the current state of the Argentine team after the 2026 World Cup on Sálvese Quien Pueda. What did he say about the captain?

Diego Latorre stirred the hornet’s nest once again. The former Boca and Argentina national team striker sat down on the set of Sálvese Quien Pueda and didn’t mince words when talking about the national team after their 2026 World Cup triumph. But what caught the most attention was his opinion on the recent controversy surrounding Lionel Messi.

With his light blue and white jersey firmly on, Latorre analyzed the performance of the team led by Lionel Scaloni. He said the team is in a great moment, but not everything is rosy. And right there, he put his finger on the sore spot regarding the number 10.

Without beating around the bush, the sports commentator referred to the rumors that have circulated in recent days about a supposed internal rift in the locker room. «I don’t know if there are problems, but what is being said in the hallways is not nice,» he said with a serious face. And he added: «Messi is always the center of attention, but sometimes a noise is generated that doesn’t help.»

Latorre, who tends to be direct in his analyses, avoided naming names but hinted that there are situations that don’t quite add up. «The world and continental champion team cannot have cracks,» he stated. And he concluded: «Sometimes personal or group interests complicate everything.»

The former footballer also praised Scaloni’s work, though he cautioned about egos. «The coach did a fantastic job, but keeping the group united after so many successes is a titanic task,» he explained. And that’s where he mentioned Messi again: «The captain has to be the first to set an example, and honestly, he has been doing that, but he doesn’t always get help.»

The Canal 13 show exploded with his statements, and reactions quickly appeared on social media. While some supported him for «saying things as they are,» others accused him of trying to stir up controversy for no reason.

The truth is, Latorre didn’t invent anything: he just gave his opinion on what had already been rumored in football circles. And with that, he once again brought up the eternal debate about whether there is peace in the Argentine national team or not.
