The worlds of streaming and football collided again, but this time with a highly controversial twist. The famous content creator known as ‘Speed’, a self-confessed fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, stole the spotlight during Lionel Messi and the Argentine national team’s match.
It turns out the influencer, who is often in the eye of the storm for his extreme reactions, wore an Austria jersey to cheer against the Scaloneta. And when the Argentine captain stepped up to take a penalty, Speed couldn’t contain himself: he celebrated wildly when the Austrian goalkeeper saved La Pulga’s shot.
But his joy was short-lived. Because later, Messi got his revenge and scored a great goal that sealed the match. Right then, the streamer couldn’t handle the pressure and, amid boos and long faces, grabbed his things and left the stadium before the final whistle.
The cameras captured everything: the euphoric screams when Messi missed the penalty, and the sour face when the Argentine No. 10 scored the second. Social media exploded with memes and comments, divided between those who laughed and those who criticized him for being bad-spirited.
The fact is that Speed, who became famous precisely for his visceral reactions, has once again given people something to talk about. And although many accuse him of seeking attention, he defends himself by saying he’s just another fan… but with a camera and millions of followers.
What do you think? Was it a bad-spirited gesture or just a passionate fan? What’s certain is that the match between Argentina and Austria had an extra spice thanks to this character who leaves no one indifferent.
