Georgina Barbarossa, the charismatic host of A la Barbarossa, worried her followers by revealing she was the target of an attempted scam. The media personality shared everything on her social media, where she showed her distress over what happened.
According to her account, she received a phone call from someone posing as a bank employee. The scammer tried to obtain sensitive account information, but Georgina, alert, did not fall for the trap. «They called me and said there was a suspicious movement in my account. I almost had a heart attack,» the actress confessed.
Fortunately, the host followed safety advice: she did not provide any information and hung up immediately. She then contacted her bank to verify everything was in order. «Thank goodness I’m attentive to these things. You have to be careful, because they can drain your account in a second,» she warned.
The news generated a reaction among her colleagues and followers, who left messages of support. Several celebrities like Laura Franco and Jorge Rial shared Georgina’s post to alert more people.
This is not an isolated case: phone and online scams are rampant in Argentina. Public figures like Barbarossa use their reach to warn people. «Don’t pay attention to anyone who asks for your information over the phone, even if they say they’re from the bank. Hang up and call your institution yourself,» the host recommended.
For now, Georgina is calm and did not suffer any financial losses. But the scare stayed with her. «My heart is still beating fast,» she wrote on her Instagram account, where she shared the tense moment.
The Argentine showbiz world showed solidarity with Barbarossa, and from here we also send her a hug. Don’t let your guard down, the crooks are on the prowl!
