AUH julio: el ajuste del 2,15% que no alcanza y los montos que cobrarán los titulares

July begins and the pockets of millions of Argentines are once again scrutinizing ANSES numbers. The Universal Child Allowance (AUH) arrives with a 2.15% increase, in line with May’s inflation of 2.1%. Yes, once again the adjustment barely prevents a total loss against the cost of living.

The social security agency confirmed that AUH beneficiaries will receive an updated base amount in July. But attention: 20% of that total is withheld until the AUH Booklet is submitted, the document proving that children attend school and receive medical care. Without the booklet, no full payment.

The measure reaches about 2.5 million families and benefits approximately 4.3 million minors nationwide. Mothers, fathers, or guardians living with children up to 18 years old who meet the requirements are the recipients of this state assistance, which for many is the only fixed monthly income.

The 2.15% increase also applies to other social benefits distributed by ANSES, such as family allowances and the Pregnancy Allowance. The government insists that the update is automatic under the mobility law, but beneficiaries feel it covers less and less. While accumulated inflation so far this year exceeds 50%, the monthly adjustment fails to close the gap.

The new amounts take effect from the first day of July and are paid according to the usual payment schedule. To find out when each person gets paid, check the ANSES website with your CUIL number. The bank identity card is key: if not updated, the deposit may be delayed.

The underlying issue is that the AUH, despite being a pillar of social assistance, remains insufficient to cover basic needs. A report from the UCA Social Debt Observatory revealed that 60% of households receiving AUH are below the poverty line. The July increase does not change that diagnosis.

Meanwhile, the government hopes that slowing inflation will allow these adjustments to have more purchasing power in the coming months. But for now, the reality is that the 2.15% barely buys an extra kilo of bread or a liter of milk compared to last month. The debate over whether the AUH should be tied to the basic basket or a more realistic index is back on the table.

The fact is that in July, the nearly 4.3 million children who depend on this allowance will continue to wait for the state to deliver more than just an automatic adjustment. The question is how long.
