Economy Minister Luis Caputo exploded against British journalist Piers Morgan after he called the reaction of Argentina’s national team players at the end of the match against Spain “disgusting.” The national official held nothing back and dedicated a forceful message on social media: “You’ve been whining and complaining like a spoiled brat.”
The clash began when Morgan harshly criticized La Scaloneta for the physical confrontations with Spanish players after the defeat. The Briton, known for his controversial statements, claimed that the Argentines had “disgusting behavior” and deserved to lose. But Caputo did not stay silent and stepped in.
“You’ve been whining and complaining like a spoiled brat for the last four days, only to say today that you’re exultant because a team that wasn’t even playing against yours lost a match. At least show some dignity and stop embarrassing your British compatriots by talking about having class,” the minister fired.
This is not the first round between the two. Days earlier, after the 2026 World Cup semifinal where Argentina eliminated England, Morgan had already targeted Argentine players for celebrating with a flag that read “The Malvinas are Argentine.” On that occasion, he called them “classless idiots” and said: “I hope Spain crushes them as badly in the final as we crushed them in the Falklands War.”
Hours later, the journalist struck again: “I had a bunch of very angry Argentines hurling insults at me for this post. Calm down… it’s not my fault you lost the Falklands War, and it’s not my fault Spain is going to swallow you up on Sunday.”
Caputo, far from being intimidated, replied then: “Argentina may win or lose the next match. But two things will happen for sure: we Argentines will celebrate anyway, and you will continue to be a mediocre and resentful person.”
The confrontation between the minister and the journalist reflects the tension in the football and political atmosphere, with the Argentine national team at the center of controversy. Meanwhile, fans await the next match to show that, despite the criticism, La Scaloneta remains a source of national pride.

Para mí Piers Morgan es un yankee cipayo de mierda, igual que todos los europeos llorones que se creen con derecho a criticar a la Scaloneta. Ellos invaden países y después hablan de comportamiento repugnante. Viva Argentina carajo, basta de haters.
