¡Atención viajeros! CBP confirma nuevas fechas de Global Entry en Florida para julio y agosto

The nightmare of long immigration lines could be eased for frequent travelers. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that during July and August it will organize special interview days for the Global Entry program throughout South Florida. The news came as a relief for those who already have conditional approval and need to complete the process.

On Tuesday, July 21, through an official statement, the agency responsible for guarding the country’s borders announced the new registration dates. The events will take place between Thursday, July 23 and Sunday, August 9 at various locations, and officers will offer more slots so that applicants with conditional approval can complete their in-person interviews closer to their homes.

“Global Entry is one of the best ways for trusted travelers to save time when returning to the United States,” said Daniel Alonso, director of field operations for the CBP office in Miami and Tampa. He added: “By bringing enrollment opportunities directly to our communities, we make it easier for eligible travelers to complete the interview process, while improving both security and the travel experience.”

The temporary events are designed to streamline the admission process for the CBP Trusted Traveler Program. But attention: appointments are exclusively for those who have already received conditional approval through the online system. If you haven’t started the process yet, forget it: you must first submit the application on the Trusted Traveler Program portal and wait for approval.

The initiative allows expedited customs processing for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. The application fee is $120 and membership lasts five years. However, minors under 18 can skip the fee if their parent or guardian is already a member or is applying for Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI. All applicants must undergo background checks, according to the CBP website.

The main benefit is reduced wait times at expedited processing lines. Additionally, some members can use the Global Entry card at land and sea ports under Sentri and Nexus rules. The agency defines it as the “perfect program” for those who travel abroad frequently or for business. For those who don’t, it recommends enrolling in TSA PreCheck and using the free Mobile Passport Control app.

The exact addresses of the events were not detailed in the statement, but the CBP is expected to publish them soon on its website. Meanwhile, interested parties should keep their eyes peeled and not miss the opportunity to avoid endless customs lines.

Firmado: El Comandante Chavista.
