The investigation into the brutal murder of Agostina Vega, the 14-year-old teenager whose body was found lifeless in the Cordoban town of Malvinas Argentinas, adds a new chapter of tension. The victim’s father, represented by lawyer Fernanda Alaniz, is preparing a request for three new people to be charged in the case and for their immediate arrest.
In recent hours, Alaniz participated in an onsite inspection at the home of Claudio Barrelier, one of the main suspects, and stated that the results of that examination, combined with those of an acoustic test already conducted, indicate that there were more responsible parties than those currently under the scrutiny of the courts.
«We believe that responsibility lies not only with Barrelier and Palmero (Marianela, Barrelier’s wife and mother of his daughter), but with all the people who were inside the house,» the lawyer said. According to the attorney, on the night of the crime, in addition to the couple, the Córdoba brothers, Ludmila (partner of one of them), and Osvaldo Fasseta were present.
«Here we have a lot of responsible parties, not just the four charged so far. We are still missing three,» Alaniz emphasized, in clear reference to the Córdoba brothers and Ludmila. The lawyer anticipated that the next step will be to formally submit the request for charges and arrest for these three individuals. «With what we obtained today, we will request the arrest of all of them and hope that the prosecutor grants it,» she stated.
The case of Agostina Vega has shocked the province of Córdoba and the entire country. The teenager disappeared on April 23 and her body was found days later in a vacant lot. Initial investigations pointed to Claudio Barrelier, who is already detained and charged with the crime, along with his wife Marianela Palmero and two other people. However, the victim’s father’s defense insists that the network of those responsible is broader.
The onsite inspection at Barrelier’s home, carried out this Wednesday, was key to reinforcing the defense’s theory. According to judicial sources, experts collected new evidence that could directly link the Córdoba brothers and Ludmila to the events. The acoustic test, meanwhile, reportedly detected sounds indicating the presence of multiple people at the scene during the attack.
Alaniz did not hesitate to describe the situation as «a chain of complicity» and stated that «everyone who was there has something to do with it.» The lawyer also questioned the delay in arrests and demanded speed from the prosecutor’s office handling the case. «We cannot allow impunity. Agostina deserves justice, and that means all those responsible pay,» she concluded.
For now, the Córdoba courts have not ruled on the defense’s request. It is expected that in the coming days the prosecutor in charge will evaluate the evidence presented and decide whether to expand the charges. Meanwhile, Agostina Vega’s family continues to demand answers and a full clarification of what happened that fateful night.
