The Senate of the Nation has called two public hearings to review 25 nominations submitted by the Executive Branch to fill positions in the national and federal judiciary. The meetings will take place on August 4 and 5 in the Blue Hall of the upper house and will include nominations for judges, prosecutors, public defenders, and appellate court members in various parts of the country.
The call was communicated by the Parliamentary Secretariat of the Honorable Senate of the Nation through two official publications. According to reports, between July 20 and 26, any person may submit questions or observations regarding the qualifications, background, and merits of the candidates, in accordance with the procedure established by the Senate Rules.
The first hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m., and will cover 15 dossiers. Among them are proposals to appoint public defenders in Formosa, Santiago del Estero, and La Rioja, a federal prosecutor for Gualeguaychú, and magistrates for national courts, federal courts, and appellate chambers.
That day will also address nominations to fill positions in the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 41 of the Federal Capital, the Federal Trial Court of Comodoro Rivadavia, the Federal Criminal Oral Court of Catamarca, and the Federal Court of Appeals of Rosario, among other judicial bodies.
Additionally, there is a request for approval to enable a new appointment of Matilde Evangelina Ballerini as member of Chamber B of the National Court of Appeals in Commercial Matters of the Federal Capital, a situation that differs from the rest of the dossiers, which are aimed at filling vacant positions.
The second hearing will take place on Wednesday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m., and will include another 10 dossiers. This session will review nominations for public defender offices, general prosecutor offices, and national civil courts, as well as positions in oral courts and federal chambers.
Among the proposals included for that date are the appointments of a public defender before the Federal Court of Criminal Cassation, a public defender for minors and incapacitated persons before the oral criminal and correctional courts of the Federal Capital, two general prosecutors before the oral economic criminal courts, and a chamber judge for an oral criminal and correctional court.
Also on the agenda are nominations to fill three national first-instance civil courts of the Federal Capital and a position as member of the Federal Chamber of Social Security.
The two hearings will be held in the Blue Hall of the Honorable Senate of the Nation. Candidates may submit their credentials within the period set between July 20 and 26.

¡Basura!
