Republican Representative Andy Biggs, one of President Donald Trump’s main allies in Congress, presented the proposals with which he seeks to become the next governor of Arizona. His platform focuses on border security, fighting crime, reducing regulations, and a series of transparency measures with which he will try to defeat current Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs. «Keeping Arizona safe» is one of his key slogans.
The state election will be held on November 3, 2026, while the primaries for both parties are scheduled for July 21. Hobbs will run for reelection with the Democratic Party, and Biggs will compete for the Republican nomination in one of the most closely watched state races in the U.S.
Within his official platform, Biggs argues that safeguarding Arizona will be one of the priorities of his eventual administration. To achieve this, he promises to work alongside Trump and law enforcement to fully secure the southern border, combat drug and human trafficking, and strengthen funding for security agencies.
The congressman believes that immigration control should become one of the pillars of state government and proposes closer coordination with federal authorities to address irregular migrant entry and fentanyl trafficking.
His program also includes initiatives to reduce taxes, promote job creation, lower the regulatory burden, ensure a stable energy supply, and develop a water policy oriented toward the state’s growth.
Biggs also presented a package of measures aimed at reinforcing transparency in public administration. Among them is the elimination of a special fund for inauguration ceremonies. According to the Republican’s campaign, if elected, he will not create an inauguration fund, and officials will assume their positions to start working immediately.
He also promised to push for a law requiring companies seeking state contracts to report political contributions made by the company or its executives. Another proposal calls for faster disclosure of the use of the so-called State Protocol Fund, with public notifications about expenses and contributions received.
Added to this is support for initiatives aimed at banning foreign donations in political campaigns and strengthening controls over signature gatherers used in electoral proposals.
Biggs has represented Arizona in the House of Representatives since 2017 and previously served as president of the state Senate. Over the years, he has consolidated himself as one of the most influential voices of the conservative Republican wing and received Trump’s endorsement in the race for governor.
Political analysts consider the 2026 election to be one of the most competitive in the U.S. due to the state’s electoral weight and the tight results seen in recent cycles. Early polls show Hobbs with an advantage in a potential direct matchup. However, Biggs appears as one of the favorites to secure the Republican nomination and reach the general election.
After the July primaries, the campaign will enter its decisive stage. The winner will face the current governor in November in an election that will define Arizona’s political direction for the coming years.
