Alerta Anmat: prohibieron la venta de cosméticos infantiles truchos con Hello Kitty y Labubu

The National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices (Anmat) banned this Friday the use, commercialization and distribution throughout the country of a series of children’s cosmetics that lacked health registration. The measure, published in the Official Gazette through provision 3841/2026, also covers any other cosmetic product of the same brands and will remain in effect until the items are duly regularized.

The decision was made after the agency detected during inspection tasks the sale of five specific products without health registration. These are a Little Princess children’s perfume from the Lady Idea brand; a duo kit of Magic Pen concealer and highlighter pencil from the M’Lundo brand, with Hello Kitty images; a Labubu lip gloss from the Hold Morning brand, which includes a keychain with that character; a glitter lip gloss from the Miss Betty brand, also with references to Labubu; and a set of three heart-shaped lip glosses from the Mocmallure brand, decorated with Hello Kitty images.

According to the provision, the products were found during inspections carried out in different stores in the city of Buenos Aires by personnel from the Cosmetics and Personal Hygiene Products Service of the Directorate of Evaluation and Management of Monitoring of Health Products. The procedures were carried out on May 15 and 22 of this year, as part of market controls.

After detecting the items, Anmat verified its database of registered cosmetics and concluded that none of them had records matching the information included on the packaging. In addition, it indicated that the labels lacked health registration data.

In the grounds of the provision, Anmat explained that, since these are not registered products, it is not possible to guarantee that they were manufactured under adequate hygienic-sanitary conditions or that their formulation uses ingredients permitted by current regulations. It also indicated that they did not enter the country through an authorized importer via the legal import authorization procedure.

The measure seeks to protect children, who are the main consumers of these products. The lack of health registration implies a potential health risk, since the quality and safety of the ingredients used cannot be assured. Anmat warns that these products may contain prohibited substances or concentrations not allowed, which could cause allergic reactions or poisoning.

The provision also orders the immediate cessation of the commercialization and distribution of the mentioned products, and empowers provincial health authorities and those of the City of Buenos Aires to carry out control operations to verify compliance. Those who fail to comply with the measure may be sanctioned with fines and closures.

Anmat recommends that consumers always verify that the cosmetics they purchase, especially those intended for children, have the corresponding health registration. To do so, you can consult the database of authorized products on the agency’s website. If suspicious products are found, a complaint can be filed through official channels.

This is not the first time Anmat has taken action against unregistered children’s products. So far this year, several similar items have already been banned, demonstrating the importance of market controls to ensure consumer safety.
