The political movement of Myriam Bregman and the PTS does not stop growing. This weekend, new Committees were set up in Neuquén, Córdoba, Mendoza, San Luis, Chubut and La Pampa, adding almost a hundred spaces for debate and organization across the country. The call, launched on May 1 by leaders of the Left Front, is bearing fruit: thousands of people are joining to discuss how to confront the adjustment plan of Javier Milei and the IMF, independently of the ruling classes.
In Neuquén, the Capital Committee brought together more than 150 people in the Pagoda classroom of the National University of Comahue. Most were participating in a political space for the first time. Among the conveners were deputy Andrés Blanco, teacher Santiago Díaz, actress Micaela Araujo and student Lara Muñoz. They divided into commissions and voted on resolutions such as promoting a campaign against the GNL Project, mobilizing on June 29 for the fifth anniversary of the social crime of Aguada San Roque and on July 13 for the second anniversary of the disappearance of Luciana Muñoz. They will also support the defense of the Mental Health Law and the struggle of teachers and state workers.
In San Martín de los Andes, more than thirty teachers, students, health workers, feminists and environmentalists debated how to organize anger against the government and build a movement for a party of the new working class. They denounced the legislative plunder affecting Mapuche communities and began discussing political campaigns. In Centenario, education workers, municipal employees, retirees, oil workers and merchants resolved a campaign against GNL, highlighting inequality in Vaca Muerta. In Zapala and Cutral Co, most debuted in organizing with the left and agreed on a next meeting to bring concrete ideas.
In Córdoba Capital, the Committee met at the FOL School with about 150 people: teachers, high school and university students, precarious workers. Laura Vilches and Nahuel Rodríguez, teachers from UEPC Capital, participated. The debate revolved around what it means to set up a movement for a party of the new working class and the prospect of a major mobilization in August. They will also promote the campaign for the appearance of Delicia Mamani Mamani and the freedom of Paola Ortiz, and will participate in the Mural of Justice for Agostina and a festival in support of the Bolivian and Venezuelan people.
In Mendoza, the San Rafael Committee was held at the ATE headquarters with about thirty people: education workers, retirees, lawyers, self-employed workers, winery workers, students and artists. Some came from previous militant experiences in Peronism. In all Committees, active solidarity was voted with the struggles of the working class and popular sectors, such as those of the Bolivian and Venezuelan people. Coordination instances against male violence and activities towards the Plurinational Meeting of Women and Diversities in Córdoba will also be promoted.
On June 5, at a massive event in Neuquén, Myriam Bregman proposed organizing committees with workmates, faculty, school, neighbors, artists and intellectuals to «turn the wheel of history.» This weekend, that proposal materialized in new provinces. The wave of Committees is already unstoppable and promises to shake up the political board.
