¡Se apagó una estrella! Sam Neill, el querido actor de Jurassic Park, murió a los 78 años

The death of Sam Neill has caused deep sorrow in the film community. At 78, the actor of huge films like The Piano and In the Mouth of Madness passed away, leaving behind a remarkable career that led him to work with major names in the industry. Among them, Steven Spielberg, who directed him in Jurassic Park, one of the key pieces in the actor’s filmography. For that reason, on such a sad day, Spielberg himself dedicated a heartfelt message to Neill.

In a statement, Spielberg expressed: «Sam was exceptionally collaborative. For him, it was very difficult to play a character who treated kids as if they were dirty and smelly, because that was the opposite of how he, as a loving father, treated his own children.»

Later, the director added: «I truly loved making all the Jurassic Park films with him. Along with Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, we will always have our Jurassic family, and Sam will never be forgotten by us or by the millions of his fans around the world.»

For her part, Laura Dern also wrote a message dedicated to Neill’s memory. In words charged with emotion, the actress wrote: «Sam was my dear lifelong friend. He showed me the depth of loyalty, protection, and love, always with a dry wit. He was a noble and true gentleman, wrapped in the co-star of my dreams.» And finally, the actress concluded: «I will love you forever, Doctor Alan Grant,» in reference to the fictional name the actor used in the Jurassic Park saga.

Jeff Goldblum, another of the Jurassic Park stars, turned to his social media to say goodbye to Neill, and wrote: «The next great adventure begins. I love you, always and forever.»

In 2023, Neill publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He himself announced that it was a stage three blood cancer, a disease for which he was already receiving treatment since early the previous year.

According to the statement issued by his inner circle on his Instagram account, the actor «remained cancer-free» when he died and did not specify the cause of death. «With immense sadness, Sam Neill’s family announces the news of his passing, which occurred on Monday, July 13 in Sydney, Australia. Sam was surrounded by his loved ones and departed with the dignity that characterized his entire life. The loss was sudden and unexpected, although it is comforting to know that Sam remained cancer-free. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of St. Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care,» the official message reads and concludes: «More details will be released later; for now, on behalf of the family, we ask that their privacy be respected as they go through this immense loss.»

After working at the New Zealand Film Company as an actor and director, it was the Australian classic My Brilliant Career (1979) alongside Judy Davis that later opened the doors for him to play the unforgettable role of Damien Thorn in The Omen III: The Final Conflict. Since then, his name was chosen to play heroes and villains in a succession of films for the big screen and television.

Yo creo que ojalá hubiera hecho más películas de verdad no esas basuras woke. QEPD pero no te vamos a llorar como ellos.
