Attention, tech addicts! The national government has just announced an installment plan that promises to revolutionize the cell phone market in Argentina. Yes, you read that right: now you can buy that Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and 120 Hz refresh rate, or the brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max with its A17 Pro chip and 48-megapixel camera, in fixed installments with no interest. What more could you ask for?
But it’s not just the top-of-the-line models that benefit. There’s also room for mortals: the Motorola Edge 50 Pro with Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and 5000 mAh battery, or the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display. All are included in the new credit program from Banco Nación, in partnership with major brands and electronics chains.
How does it work? Simple. The plan offers up to 24 fixed installments in pesos, with an interest rate not exceeding 20% per year, well below inflation. But beware, because quotas are limited and sell like hotcakes. Requirements: be a native or naturalized Argentine, have a valid ID, and a Banco Nación account. Additionally, the cell phone cannot exceed $2,500,000 (two and a half million Argentine pesos) cash. Yes, you read that right! The cap is very high, so you can aim for almost any model.
Prices, of course, are a topic. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $2,300,000, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB is around $2,800,000. But with the plan, you can get it in 24 installments of approximately $115,000, a steal compared to black market prices. Motorola is not far behind: the Edge 50 Pro costs $1,200,000, with installments of $60,000. And Xiaomi, the king of price-performance ratio, offers the 14 Ultra at $1,800,000, with installments of $90,000.
Where to buy? The affiliated chains are Frávega, Garbarino, Musimundo, and the official brand stores on Mercado Libre. But be careful, because demand is fierce and stocks sell out in minutes. Virtual queues of up to 10,000 people have been seen waiting for their turn to get an appointment.
Experts warn: this plan could be a boost to revive consumption, but also a risk if inflation spikes. Meanwhile, Argentines are taking advantage to upgrade their phones without having to sell a kidney. Are you going to miss out? Hurry, because the installments are flying.
