La T y la M are on everyone’s lips. The duo that mixes cumbia and electronic music became the unofficial soundtrack of the Argentine National Team during the World Cup in Qatar, and now they have told how the players discovered their music. In an interview with Infobae Mundial, the artists recalled the exact moment it all began.
According to them, the first to find them was none other than Sergio Agüero. Kun, a music fan and always attentive to new sounds, heard a song by La T y la M and shared it with the squad’s WhatsApp group. «It was crazy. Suddenly, we started getting messages from friends saying that the guys were listening to our music,» they recounted.
What followed was an unstoppable chain. Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María, and the rest of the champions adopted the duo’s hits for celebrations and bus rides. «They told us they played them in the locker room before matches. It was a way to relax and feel that the party had already started,» the musicians explained.
The song that played the most was «La T y la M,» which ended up being chanted by the players in moments of greatest euphoria. «We couldn’t believe it. Seeing Messi sing our song was a dream,» they confessed.
The duo also revealed that after the World Cup, demand for their shows exploded. «We went from playing at small dances to filling stadiums. All thanks to them,» they assured. However, they clarified that they don’t feel pressured: «This gave us a huge boost, but we’re still the same. Music is our passion.»
The story of La T y la M is an example of how music can unite a country. And they, without looking for it, became part of the legend of the Scaloneta.
