Amid Manuel Adorni’s departure from the Cabinet, a response from the General Secretariat of the Presidency came to light that further complicates the former chief of staff: his wife, Bettina Julieta Angeletti, traveled on the ARG-01 as a guest during Javier Milei’s tour of the United States, although the government maintains she was not part of the official delegation.
According to information that emerged from public information access requests, the national administration admitted that Angeletti was listed as a «guest on the presidential flight – one-way only» on the legs to Miami and New York. However, the same document clarified that «there are no records» of her having been part of the official delegations, either on trips abroad or within the country.
The contradiction is evident: if she was not part of the delegation, in what capacity did she travel? Who authorized her presence on a state aircraft? And under what criteria was she allowed transport, while the rest of the official guests were only high-ranking officials?
The tour in question took place in March 2026. The official delegation included President Javier Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Milei, Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, and, of course, Manuel Adorni. The reason: the «Shields of the Americas Summit» in Miami, where the delegation stayed at the Trump National Doral, with «Bedroom Suite» rooms for Milei and his sister. But the detail that explodes the official narrative is that of New York. There, during «Argentina Week,» the President and Karina Milei stayed at The Langham, in luxury suites. And there too, Bettina Angeletti appeared as a «one-way» guest on the presidential flight. Without official position, without diplomatic function, without administrative justification.
The document does not necessarily imply a crime, but it is a slap in the face to the austerity discourse that the government preached from day one. While budgets were adjusted and expenses cut, the inner circle traveled on the presidential plane with unofficial guests and stayed in high-end hotels.
The discomfort for Adorni is immense. He was already facing questions about his assets and expenses, and now this detail leaves him at the center of the storm. His resignation, which was already foreseeable, revalues this document: what at the time seemed like a simple administrative detail is now read as part of a sequence of privileges, half-truths, and unanswered questions.
