The president’s sister, Secretary General of the Presidency, will host a meeting that marks the formal debut of Diego Santilli as Chief of Staff, following recent ministerial changes. The conclave, to be held at the Casa Rosada, will not include Javier Milei, but will feature presidential advisor Santiago Caputo and the main ministers and parliamentary leaders of the libertarian space.
Santilli’s arrival at the Chief of Staff office seeks to bring political weight and experience in negotiations with governors and opposition lawmakers. After Manuel Adorni’s departure, the new coordinating minister assumes a central role in oiling institutional ties and ensuring the governability of the libertarian space. The goal of the so-called «iron triangle» —comprising Karina, Caputo, and Santilli— is to unify management criteria and shield the Executive Branch’s agenda against the challenges of the second half of the year.
One of the main focuses of the conclave will be to move forward firmly with the political reform project that the Executive will send to Congress in the coming weeks. With this initiative, the La Libertad Avanza government seeks to reorganize the electoral system and avoid new legislative setbacks through stricter prior coordination with allied blocs. In parallel, the ruling party leadership will begin outlining the electoral strategy for the 2027 presidential elections. Deliberations will include analysis of potential alliances and convergence agreements with different sectors of the PRO, in order to broaden the ruling party’s political support base.
The political table meets in a context of high legislative tension, where the government needs to secure support for its key initiatives. Santilli, with his dialogue-oriented profile, appears as the key piece to unblock negotiations with Peronist and Radical governors. However, his arrival is not without controversy: harder-line sectors of the libertarian space view his past in the PRO with suspicion and doubt his loyalty to the Milei project. Karina Milei, aware of these suspicions, will take charge of setting the boundaries and making it clear that political leadership remains in the hands of the presidential family.
The conclave will also serve to evaluate the management of ministries and adjust the government’s communication. The idea is to show an image of unity and strength, while the opposition tries to capitalize on internal conflicts. For now, the «iron triangle» promises to be the political engine of the ruling party in the coming months, with Santilli as the new gear seeking to give governability to a space that until now functioned more by inertia than by planning.
