Anger is organizing. This Saturday, July 4, Trelew, Esquel and Lago Puelo will host new open meetings of the Committees alongside Myriam Bregman, a PTS leader in the Left Front. The movement already totals nearly a hundred committees nationwide, and Patagonia is not lagging behind: after meetings in Comodoro Rivadavia, Puerto Madryn and the Andean Region, it is now the turn of the mountain range and the plateau.
The call is clear: to discuss, organize and move toward building a party of the new working class. A movement that seeks to turn sympathy into organization and change history. And for good reason: with Javier Milei in power, the IMF austerity and complicit governors like Ignacio Torres, people are fed up.
The committees have been operating since May 1, when Bregman, Nicolás del Caño, Christian Castillo and other leaders launched the proposal. Hundreds of workers, young people, students, retirees, cultural figures and activists are already joining to debate how to fight against the looting plan of Milei, Torres and the IMF, independent of the ruling classes and their political expressions.
This week, the committees will address hot topics. In Trelew, for example, the provocation by two libertarians who covered up the historic mural of Che Guevara at the UNPSJB, and the subsequent entry of provincial police who violated university autonomy. They will also discuss how to support teachers and students defending education against Torres’ austerity, and how to confront extractivist advances and laws that Congress wants to pass, such as the Super Rigi and the land foreignization law.
The initiative, promoted by the PTS within the FITU, seeks to generate the social force that in the streets, in movements, workplaces and schools puts a stop to the rapid looting plans of Milei and his accomplices serving imperialist interests. Following the example of the Bolivian people who took to the streets against the austerity advocate Paz, coordination and self-organization from below are key, but also the construction of a new historical movement that overcomes the crisis-ridden experience of Peronism and transforms into a political tool of the working people.
The meetings are open and will be held simultaneously: in Trelew, in Room 28 of the UNPSJB campus at 4 PM; in Lago Puelo, at the Domo Nuevo Brote, Los Cipreces between Huemul and Alerce, also at 4 PM; and in Esquel, the location will be confirmed in the coming hours. The appointment is for all those who want to be part of this force that is already underway.
