Llegó el nuevo SUV japonés a la Argentina: así es el Honda WR-V que promete revolucionar el segmento B

Japanese automaker Honda has just introduced a new player in the B-segment SUV arena. It’s the second generation of the WR-V, a model that comes directly from Brazil and is now available in Argentina in a single trim: the top-of-the-line EXL. And honestly, this beast comes loaded.

At first glance, the change is radical. While the first generation looked like a hatchback disguised as an adventurer, this new WR-V stands out with straight lines, pronounced volumes, and a stance that screams «SUV» from every angle. It measures 4.32 meters long, 1.79 meters wide, and 1.65 meters tall, with a wheelbase of 2.65 meters. But what really catches the eye is the ground clearance: 223 millimeters, the highest among its rivals. That means you can tackle any curb or speed bump without fear of leaving your bumper behind.

The design is pure personality. A hexagonal grille with a honeycomb pattern, a chrome trim that connects the sharp LED headlights, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and satin gray roof rails that give it a sporty touch. At the rear, sobriety reigns: horizontal taillights that extend into the trunk and a well-integrated bumper. The trunk, by the way, offers 458 liters, one of the largest in the segment.

Inside, things are serious. Quality materials, proper finishes, and plenty of space for four adults. The driver can adjust the seat and steering wheel to their liking, and there’s a smart mix of physical and digital controls that avoids having to navigate the screen all the time. The floating multimedia screen is 12.5 inches and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also comes with a wireless charger, eco-leather upholstery, digital climate control, keyless entry and start, rearview camera, and rear parking sensors.

But where Honda really stands out is safety. This WR-V comes with 6 airbags, stability and traction control, ABS with EBD, hill start and descent control, Isofix anchors, and most importantly, the Honda Sensing package. That includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with collision mitigation, lane keeping assist with lane departure mitigation, and automatic high beams. Equipment that few in the segment can boast.

Under the hood, the engine is the same as the HR-V’s: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder that delivers 121 hp at 6600 rpm and 14.8 kgm of torque at 4300 rpm. It’s paired with a CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and front-wheel drive. In the city, the engine moves like a fish in water: power is more than enough, and fuel consumption averages 9.3 liters per 100 km. But on the highway, things change. The CVT slips and revs spike to find response, resulting in modest numbers: 0-100 km/h in 11 seconds and 80-120 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Top speed is 176 km/h, and at 130 km/h on the highway, consumption drops to 6.6 liters per 100 km.

The ride is very comfortable, thanks to a well-tuned suspension and 215/55 R17 tires. The steering is quick and precise, and the chassis behaves in a balanced manner, with little body roll in corners. The price, however, is not for everyone: 42,490,000 pesos. But those who can afford it will get an SUV that promises to fight in an increasingly competitive market.

  2. Para mí esto es otro verso capitalista, un SUV brasilero pedorro para que los chetos se crean aventureros yendo al shopping. Mientras la gente se funde, estos venden humo con diseño ‘genuíno’. Degenerados, me dan asco. Firmado: El Gauchito del Asfalto.
