In the midst of the storm that has him as the protagonist due to inconsistencies in his asset declaration, Cabinet Chief Manuel Adorni dropped a bombshell: he is stepping down as presidential spokesperson. The person tasked with giving voice to Javier Milei’s government will now be the deputy from La Pampa, Adrián Osvaldo Ravier.
The news came as a cold shower in the Pink House. Adorni, who had been questioned by allies and strangers alike, used his X account to announce the change: «Gathered in Olivos with the President of the Nation. Adrián Ravier will be the new Presidential Spokesperson. All the best in this new stage, dear Adrián. Great challenge ahead: you will be the voice of the one who is making Argentina great again. End.» The message was instantly shared by Milei himself, who spread the news while both were meeting at the Olivos residence to «review the management agenda.»
Adorni’s departure is no coincidence. For weeks, requests from allies and opponents for him to leave the post have multiplied. The scandal over the unjustified increase in his assets has put him in the crosshairs of all political sectors. Meanwhile, the new spokesperson, Ravier, 48, originally from La Pampa, is an economist graduated from UBA who has stood out for his staunch defense of the President’s ideas. Not only that: he is co-author with Milei of the book «The Battle for Macroeconomics: The Open Debate between Keynes, Friedman, Lucas, and Hayek.»
Ravier takes on the role with a low profile but with a discourse that promises controversy. In a recent interview, the now-spokesperson stated: «There is no economic crisis, under any concept. There is no economic recession; GDP is increasing. There is no collapse in employment. We can say that there are sectors that are not doing well and others that are not doing well.» He also made clear his stance on the monetary path: «For me, Argentina should dollarize, without a doubt.»
Before arriving at the Chamber of Deputies at the end of 2025, Ravier was academic director of the Faro Foundation, the think tank of Milei’s party led by Francisco Caputo, brother of presidential advisor Santiago Caputo. Indeed, Santiago Caputo himself celebrated the appointment with a message on X: «Congratulations Adrián Ravier. May the forces of heaven accompany you.»
The move in Olivos leaves more questions than answers. Is a purge in the Cabinet coming? Will Adorni leave completely or continue as Cabinet Chief? For now, the only certainty is that the government’s voice is changing hands, and it promises to be as combative, if not more so, than the previous one.
