Nacho Levy broke his silence after the complaint by his ex-partner Cecilia Ce for alleged emotional abuse. In a statement published on his social media, he apologized and announced that he will deepen an «intense mental health treatment.»
«I need to ask for forgiveness from those who may have suffered from my side emotional dynamics that I tried to work on with medication and therapy; psychological violence, which from the inside is not seen. And it is not about blows, nor judicial complaints, nor the barbarities that some media have published,» Levy expressed.
The journalist, who was removed from the popular assembly movement after the accusations, acknowledged having generated toxic relationships and being the protagonist of practices that «the activism has been reviewing and transforming.» «We have truly grown and my colleagues have done a lot for that, as they are doing today. But I do not intend to splash anyone nor dilute the accusations against me in general patterns, because I am clear about my responsibility and my obligation: to work on myself, to regulate my mood, heal wounds, and be able to add without subtracting,» he added.
Levy assured that «hard times are upon him» and that his priority is mental health treatment, which he defined as his «commitment to personal repair.» «Sometimes there are no blows, nor crimes, nor felonies, but there are dynamics that are indeed emotionally violent,» he explained.
The statement also included self-criticism: «Without stopping the march, I focused on the work and neglected the path, putting ideas ahead of people.» He clarified that he does not feel like an «impostor» in the social movement nor in the support of his colleagues from Garganta Poderosa, and that he did not see a «direct contradiction» with harmful behaviors. «It is harder to see them when one feels that there is love, when one lives with excessive intensity or when vertigo carries us away, even if it seems like a ‘vertigo of good’ or a bet to save a bond,» he wrote.
The journalist asked for forgiveness «without speculations of scorn» and said he was devoured by his ego. He stated that he is now in the hands of professionals and will try to «shut up, listen, and show that things from the inside can also be transformed.» «I am very sorry,» he concluded.
The public complaint arose last Tuesday, when Cecilia Ce, sexologist and Levy’s ex-partner, published accusations of «psychopathic and narcissistic» behaviors on social media. At that time she did not mention Levy directly, but later shared a story from actress Gloria Carrá, who was the journalist’s partner between 2020 and 2023, in which she revealed having suffered «situations of violence.»
Subsequently, journalist Sofía Monachelli revealed that she was Levy’s partner around 2007 or 2008, when she was 18. She felt identified with Ce’s statements: «One phrase of hers pierced me: ‘I was able to get out.’ I felt exactly the same. I can speak after 20 years.»
After the complaints, the movement activated its protocol against gender violence and removed Levy. «We do not look the other way nor relativize the facts. We believe that this is the way to embrace and believe the voice of those who decide to speak, as well as to protect the construction we have been carrying out, and the people who make up this movement: what happened is incompatible with the leadership of our organization,» they stated.
