¡Revolución sobre ruedas! BYD lanza en Argentina un SUV híbrido que rompe todos los récords de autonomía

Chinese brand BYD has just shaken up the Argentine market with the launch of the Seal U DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV that promises to be a true ecological missile. With a combined range of up to 1,105 kilometers, this beast is set to ruffle the competition’s feathers.

The model combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with an electric system that, according to the brand, allows it to travel 105 kilometers in 100% electric mode. But what really stands out is fuel consumption: just 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Crazy for an SUV nearly 4.8 meters long.

In terms of dimensions, the beast measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. The trunk has a capacity of 552 liters, which extends to 1,440 liters when the rear seats are folded down. No shortage of space, folks.

Inside, the Seal U DM-i doesn’t skimp on luxury. It offers two color combinations: Black and Basalt Black-Red Hare Brown (the latter only with the exterior Time Gray). It comes with front seats with electric adjustment, ventilation, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof with electric opening, and even a dual 15 W wireless charger for your phones.

But the cherry on top is the Infinity premium audio system with 10 speakers and subwoofer, a 15.6-inch central screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Head-Up Display, and voice control with «Hi BYD» and «Hi Google.» A true spaceship on wheels.

In terms of safety, the model achieved five stars in Euro NCAP tests. It comes with six airbags, 360° cameras with transparent chassis, and a package of driving assists including autonomous emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keeping and centering assist, blind spot detection, and rear cross-traffic braking. No joke.

The model is offered in four colors: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Time Gray, and Smoke Gray. Additionally, it comes with a home charger up to 7 kW, a portable charger, and a V2L cable to power external devices from the vehicle. Ideal for camping or a blackout.

Christian Kimelman, country manager of BYD Argentina, said: «This new launch in Argentina represents a new step in our growth strategy and reaffirms our commitment to bringing increasingly innovative and accessible technologies to the local market. This model arrives to redefine the experience in the plug-in hybrid SUV segment.» Word.

The starting price is US$47,990, with a service cost of $357,600 and a warranty of six years or 150,000 kilometers for the vehicle, and eight years or the same mileage for the battery and electric motor. A bargain? For those who want to step on the accelerator without guilt, undoubtedly.
