In a twist that shakes the foundations of La Libertad Avanza, former Buenos Aires legislator Ramiro Marra demanded President Javier Milei fire Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni, who is under investigation for alleged illicit enrichment. «I ask you to make the decision that is right,» Marra wrote in an open letter published on his X account, without mincing words or concessions.
Marra, one of the founders of the libertarian space, addressed Milei not as a political leader, but as a private-sector citizen. «One more of the millions of Argentines who produce, who generate jobs, who risk their capital every day and who at the time decided to support a change that seemed impossible,» the text began, making clear that his demand stems from defending the economic model the government promotes.
The former legislator pointed out that there is a situation the President knows better than anyone, without needing to name it. «A situation that has been wearing down the government for months: it occupies the agenda, covers up achievements, and erodes the most valuable thing this project has, which is its word,» he stated. According to Marra, Argentines did not vote just for numbers, but for the promise to end privileges and cronyism. «That was the contract. And that contract is now being called into question,» he asserted.
In the harshest part of the letter, Marra directly questioned the head of state: «This project is not yours. It does not belong to one person, nor to a family, nor to a close circle. This project belongs to the vast majority of Argentines who decided, democratically and at the ballot box, to leave behind decades of bad habits.» And he concluded: «You are the representative of that change and the main person responsible for protecting it. But you are not its owner. And protecting it often means making decisions that hurt.»
Marra did not spare personal examples to reinforce his argument. He recalled when the libertarian leadership expelled him from La Libertad Avanza unilaterally, without notice and with excuses he called ridiculous. «If that same standard was applied to me — a founder, unjustly removed — all I ask today is that it be applied with the same firmness to any official. Without distinctions, without cover-ups, and without exceptions for closeness,» he demanded.
The former legislator closed his message with a call for consistency: «I am not asking you to agree with me. I am asking you to make the decision that is right. The one that protects the model, the one that safeguards the pledged word, and the one that returns to the government the moral strength that Argentines gave it.» And he concluded: «This change is bigger than any of us. Bigger than me, who already experienced it firsthand. And bigger, also, than you, Mr. President. Protecting it is your responsibility. And you still have time.»
