President Javier Milei continues this Sunday with his international agenda and is already in Spain, on a tour that generates expectations and controversy. The Argentine leader seeks to strengthen ties with Pedro Sánchez’s government, but also faces criticism from the opposition, which accuses him of neglecting the country’s internal problems. Meanwhile, in Buenos Aires, the repercussions of the election in Colombia continue to shake the local political board, with cross-cutting analyses about the future of the region.

Amid this context, a scandal involving model Jesica Cirio and former mayor of Lomas de Zamora, Martín Insaurralde, regained strength. Cirio broke her silence this Saturday and issued a statement after the release of videos in which she is seen handling bags and bundles of dollars allegedly hidden in the dressing room of the house she shared with Insaurralde in San Vicente. The images, which quickly went viral, show the model in an attitude that many interpret as suspicious, although she assured that she has nothing to hide.

“I have no connection to illegal activities. Those dollars were part of a legitimate family business, and the way the images are presented is malicious,” Cirio said in a statement. However, judicial sources confirmed that the case for illicit enrichment against Insaurralde continues to advance, and that these videos could be incorporated as evidence. The opposition was quick to react: “This is the tip of the iceberg of Kirchnerist corruption,” fired a deputy from La Libertad Avanza, while from Peronism they asked “not to jump to conclusions.”

In parallel, Milei’s trip to Spain generates diplomatic friction. The president is scheduled to meet with businessmen and Spanish authorities, but is also expected to address sensitive issues such as the Mercosur-European Union agreement. “Argentina needs investments, not ideology,” said an official from the official delegation. However, local progressive sectors criticized the tour: “Milei goes on a trip while the country falls apart,” said a union leader.

The election in Colombia, which gave victory to Gustavo Petro, also resonates in the Casa Rosada. Milei, who had shown sympathy for the opposition candidate, avoided speaking directly, but his associates hinted at his discontent. “It is a triumph of populism in the region,” analyzed a presidential advisor. Meanwhile, on social media, users debate the future of bilateral relations and the impact on Argentine politics.

In this tense climate, the government tries to show firmness. “We will not be distracted by press operations,” said an official spokesperson, in clear reference to the Cirio-Insaurralde scandal. But the opposition promises to bring the issue to Congress and demand explanations. “The President has to show his face,” demanded a senator from Unión por la Patria.

Meanwhile, economic uncertainty persists. The blue dollar continues to rise and the Central Bank’s reserves are not recovering. Markets are closely watching Milei’s tour, waiting for concrete signals about the economic direction. “Spain is a key partner, but Argentina needs results now,” said a financial analyst.

The day makes it clear that, between presidential trips, media scandals and elections abroad, Argentine politics does not let up. And while Milei seeks to position himself on the international stage, in the shadows, the videos of Cirio and the allegedly hidden dollars continue to fuel the saga that keeps the country on edge.
