¡Explota la izquierda en Chubut! Más de 700 se suman a los comités de Bregman

The province of Chubut has become a political hotbed. This Saturday, June 20, hundreds of people packed the headquarters of the new support committees for Myriam Bregman in Trelew, Puerto Madryn, and the Andean Region. With more than 700 participants nationwide, the movement led by the Socialist Workers’ Party (PTS) figure continues to grow.

In Trelew, the meeting was held at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco (UNPSJB) and lasted over two hours. It brought together teachers, state workers, precarious workers, university and high school students, environmental and human rights activists. The common denominator: weariness with the economic situation and the need to break with passivity. “We must build a space that enables dissent,” was heard among those present.

One of the most resonant topics was the rebellion in Bolivia against the Kast government, which that same day had declared a state of exception and authorized the armed forces to clear peasant blockades. Participants analyzed the role of the COB leadership and drew lessons for upcoming battles against local governments.

In Puerto Madryn, the debate focused on how to advance in building political power and defending human and environmental rights. The case of Facundo Jones Huala and the persecution of indigenous peoples was mentioned. The role of Peronist political and union leadership was also questioned, pointing to them as accomplices in the government’s advancement of laws such as the omnibus bill, labor reform, and the glaciers law.

The Andean Region was not left behind. There, attendees highlighted the importance of identifying enemies and building a movement of the new working class. Among the proposals that emerged, it was agreed to organize participation in the 39th Plurinational Meeting of Women and Diversities in Córdoba, hold new meetings in 15 or 21 days, and create reading groups for the PTS manifesto.

The phenomenon is not exclusive to Chubut. Across the country, committees have multiplied since the May 1 rally at Ferro, where Bregman launched the call. Thousands of workers and young people have joined from Jujuy to Tierra del Fuego. “This is just the beginning,” warn organizers, who are already planning new activities for the coming weeks.

If you are in Chubut and want to join, the committees are open to all who want to discuss and fight against austerity. The next meeting will be in Trelew, Puerto Madryn, or the Andean Region. Don’t miss out on this movement that promises to shake up the political landscape.
